The Chaplin Family Camp (23rd Aug - 27th Aug)

Hello,
What a busy week, Mummy & Daddy had a very quick turnaround after arriving home Wednesday night from Barcelona, to be packed and out of the door Thursday morning for our next adventure - FAMILY CAMP in Cambridge. For those not in the know - this is the Chaplin event of the year where a lot of the Chaplin Family of all generations descend on a very pretty campsite in Cambridge over the August Bank Holiday for lots of camping and catching up.

We went down Thursday and arrived at Family Camp mid afternoon to rain, Grannie & Grandad have a caravan and were sorted out when we got there, so whilst Daddy & Grandad quickly got our tent up, Grannie took Mummy & I to met the other Chaplins who were caravaning, being Marion & David & Penny & Tony. So a cup of tea later we were all settled in.

That evening we all went out and enjoyed an excellent Chinese meal (all you can eat) I slept through it all but Mummy tells me the food was delicious. Then I had my first night camping in a tent - Mummy was a bit worried about me but I slept straight through till morning how good am I.....
Friday saw us do a quick Tesco shop for supplies to see us through and in the afternoon a visit to Primose & Alan (Alan is Grandad's Uncle) that was a nice surprise as they didn't know we were all going.

Saturday was a great day too Uncle Gary & Auntie Lisa arrived, we said hello and then went into the beautiful city of Cambridge where we met my Godmother Lesley, who had come over for the day from Peterborough to see us, and she had found us a great place to have a drink it was a bar/eatery called D'Arry's and it sold mainly D'Arenburg wines (from Australia) which excited my Mummy & Lesley no end so there we met up with Grannie, Uncle Gary and Auntie Lisa and the big people enjoyed a fabulous lunch and a few glasses of lovely wine. After this we had a look around Cambridge, some shops, markets and Kings College. Then Lesley, Mummy, Daddy & I met up with Lee & Lucy for a beer by the Canal. Lee & Lucy are friends Lesley & Steve met backpacking in Australia and who Mummy & Daddy know through them. After this we headed back to the campsite for an lovely meal and booze up all in all it was a great day.

To come the big day at Family Camp - Sunday

Love Ruby x

I am now using the wine list that we pinched from D'Arrys as a tick list with the aim of buying and trying all 27 bottles that were on there!! Made a start at the weekend with a bottle of the D'Arry's Original Grenache Shiraz which was v nice, and a bottle of the High Trellis Cab Sav. Yum yum!!! :o)
